La Querencia: The geographical place where a sense of security and safety persists, in spite of pressures from the outside world. Originally it was a term exclusive to the drama of the bullfight: the bull selects a space in the ring where he catches his breath to defend his life, imagines he is safe, and often returns, in order to accept with grace the conditions of his existence, including death.
